Ian Fitzgerald

Chair of the Board since September 2017.
Member of the Audit & Finance (ex-officio).
Member of the People, Culture & Change Committee (ex-officio).
Member of the Risk Assurance (ex-officio).

Ian is an experienced company director and advisor. Ian is a Chartered Fellow of the Institute of Directors and holds a number of Governance roles across a range of organisations including the Waikato District Council and Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

As an advisor Ian specialises in resolving complex organisational problems and negotiation support.

Ian has held senior roles in the public and private sectors with management experience in a wide range of areas including change management, financial management, banking, human resources, information technology, operational risk, legal, internal audit and public relations.

John Duncan

Public Trust Board Member since November 2015.
Deputy Chair of the Board since February 2020.
Chair of the People, Culture & Change Committee.
Member of the Risk Assurance Committee.

John has extensive experience in global financial markets encompassing Treasury, Corporate Finance, Debt and Equity Capital Markets, M&A and Risk Management. Over a 35 year career he has worked both domestically and internationally taking senior leadership roles with a number of global investment banks, with the most recent being within Goldman Sachs.

John is currently the Executive Director of the Auckland Investment Office and continues to provide corporate finance and funding advice to a range public and private sector companies and entities.

John also serves as Deputy Chair of Housing New Zealand Corporation.

Graham Naylor

Public Trust Board Member since November 2016.
Chair of the Audit & Finance Committee.
Member of the Risk Assurance Committee.

Graham is a Chartered Accountant with extensive governance, business and financial advisory experience in both the public and private sectors.

He was a partner in an international accounting firm for 28 years prior to his retirement in 2013. Graham sits on a number of Boards and Audit and Risk Committees in both the public and private sectors.

Graham is a Chartered Member of the Institute of Directors.

Kevin Murphy

FCA


Public Trust Board Member since February 2020.
Chair of the Risk Assurance Committee.
Member of the People, Culture & Change Committee.

Kevin is an experienced managing director in the financial services industry, having spent 38 years with TSB, including 8 years combined as Managing Director and CEO. He retired from TSB in 2018.

He now has a portfolio of governance roles, including Augusta Capital, SBS Bank, Finance Now and Adele Senior Living, and is a trustee and Deputy Chair of Venture Taranaki Trust.

He is also a Board member for the Taranaki Rugby Football Union and the New Plymouth Operatic Society.

Kevin is a Fellow of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand and a Chartered Member of the Institute of Directors.

Kirsty Campbell

LLB (Hons), CMInstD

Public Trust Board Member since April 2019.
Deputy Chair of the Audit & Finance Committee.
Member of then Risk Assurance Committee.

Kirsty is a commercial adviser and professional director who has held a range of senior roles in corporate finance, banking, law and regulation.

She has a portfolio of governance roles, including being an independent director of NZHL, Salt Funds Management Ltd, Enviro-Mark Solutions Ltd and New Plymouth PIF Guardians Ltd.

Her previous roles include independent director of Simplicity NZ Ltd, Head of Supervision at Financial Markets Authority and Senior Manager with ANZ.

Kirsty is a Chartered Member of the Institute of Directors and an Accredited Investment Fiduciary®.  She has a Bachelor of Law (Hons) and a post-graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the University of Edinburgh.

Vicki Sykes

MSocP (Hons), CMInstD

Public Trust Board Member since April 2019.
Deputy Chair of the People, Culture & Change Committee.
Member of the Risk Assurance Committee.

Vicki has extensive experience as a CEO and in governance across a range of human services and community sector organisations. She has also worked in education and for the Anglican Church.

She works currently as a Director, Consultant, and Management Coach. Her governance roles include organisations in the community services, retirement, and financial services areas. These include The Selwyn Foundation, Anglican Trust Board, Anglican Church Pension Board, Christian Kiwisaver, Haumaru Housing, and The Butterfly Trust.

Vicki brings a particular focus on quality customer service, especially in diverse communities, and a commitment to meeting multiple bottom lines.

Meleane Burgess

CMInstD, ACA, BMS

Public Trust Board Member since February 2020.
Member of the Audit & Finance Committee.
Member of the Risk Assurance Committee.

Meleane has extensive experience in advisory roles. She was previously part of an advisory group for the Ministry for Pacific Peoples and is currently involved in the Pacific Steering Group for the Ministry of Social Development; former Director of the meta-charity The Good Collective; and founder and Executive Committee member of the Waikato Pacific Business Network.

Meleane is also the director for Dynamic Advisory, which provides business advisory and tax compliance services.

Based in the Waikato, Meleane serves as Deputy Chair for the Board of Trustees for Hillcrest High School and is Treasurer for the Waikato Samoan Association.

Glenys Talivai

Glenys joined Public Trust as CEO on 18 March 2019.

She is a highly regarded executive with significant leadership experience in the financial services sector. Past roles include General Manager – Customer Acquisition, Retention and Claims at Tower Insurance, as well as senior leadership positions at ANZ and the Medical Assurance Society.

She also served as Deputy Chair at the New Zealand Institute of Management and was the winner of the Young Executive of the Year at the Deloitte Top 200 awards in 2012.

Chris East

Chris was appointed as the Chief Information Officer for Public Trust in June 2020.

Chris has previously spent 11 years working at the Department of Internal Affairs (DIA), most recently in the role of Chief Advisor to the CEO. His other roles at the DIA have been as Acting Deputy CEO (Corporate Services) where he was responsible for leading a team of over 400 spanning finance, HR, ICT, property, communications, information management and security.

He also held the role of Chief information Officer at the DIA for four years with responsibility for the department’s technology strategy and delivery.

Chris's cross functional experience along with his strong leadership and ability to shape positive working environments is hugely valuable.

Peter Aish

Peter joined Public Trust in October 2020 as the Chief Financial Officer.

Peter has almost 30 years of finance experience, including his most recent role as CFO of Southern Cross Benefits, and close to a decade as CFO at Deutsche Bank in New Zealand, where he continues to hold a Directorship role. Prior to this, Peter spent nearly 10 years as Chief Accountant at ABN AMRO Bank NV.

Peter joined Public Trust in October 2020 as the Chief Financial Officer. David Callanan

David joined Public Trust as acting Chief Risk Officer in September 2019 and assumed the new permanent role of Chief Legal and Risk Officer three months later.

He was Chief Risk Officer at Tower for more than 3 years, where his team oversaw risk, compliance, legal and governance for the Tower group.

Prior to this, he was Chief Risk Officer at RACQ Insurance in Australia. He also spent 4 years at PwC in Australia and London.

Andrew Hughes

General Manager – Corporate Trustee Services

Andrew joined Public Trust in July 2019 as General Manager Corporate Trustee Services. His role involves managing the Corporate Trusts business for Public Trust, which includes the supervision of all forms of securities issues, as well as developing our Corporate Trust business. Andrew is a Chartered Accountant with particular expertise in the financial sectors of Asia and New Zealand, as well as corporate governance, operations and strategic planning.

Prior to joining Public Trust, he spent 15 years in Japan heading up Capital Services Group which managed acquired, originated and securitized real estate and loan asset portfolios (both performing and non-performing) on behalf of major international investors throughout Asia.

Andrew’s previous New Zealand experience included seven years with another Trustee Company, and four years with the Finance Company subsidiary of a major Australian Bank.

Andrew is a chartered accountant with over 25 years' experience in the trustee and financial services industries in New Zealand an Asia.

Andrew Bhimy

General Manager – People and Culture

Andrew joined Public Trust in August 2019. As General Manager People and Culture, Andrew is passionate about helping us achieve our goals through our people. Andrew is a Human Resources leader who has held executive roles across diverse sectors and was most recently Executive General Manager, People and Culture at the Manukau Institute of Technology. Prior to that, he spent 10 years with The Warehouse Group across several senior HR related roles.

Sarah Pepworth

General Manager – Marketing and Customer Experience

Sarah Pepworth joined Public Trust on November 2019 in the newly created executive role of GM Marketing and Customer Experience.

Sarah is an experienced brand and marketing communications leader, with a history of working in fast-paced, competitive organisations. This includes nearly 7 years in the UK’s telco industry at BT Group and included the role of Head of Marketing for Plusnet – BT’s value growth brand.

The last 2 years have seen her as Head of Marketing for New Zealand Steel and instrumental in the relaunch of the COLORSTEEL® brand.

Vanessa Dudley

General Manager – Retail Customers

Vanessa joined Public Trust in November 2020 and is based in our Wellington office. She leads the company’s retail business, which is responsible for delivering exceptional experiences through the Customer Centres and specialised support functions throughout New Zealand.

Vanessa’s most recent role was CEO of Healthcare New Zealand, a privately owned nationwide organisation committed to helping New Zealanders live as independently as possible.

Vanessa’s inclusive and dynamic leadership along with her proven executive experience leading large, diverse frontline retail teams and contact centres make her a great fit for the role of GM Retail at Public Trust.
